COVE CLIFF PLACE (Rainforest)
Deep Cove, North Vancouver, 2007-08
"TREES are Poems
that Earth writes upon the Sky."
~ Khalil Gibran
Perched on a cliff in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, this post and beam residence "in the rainforest " overlooks beautiful Indian Arm, British Columbia. The site is dramatic—a sloped and heavily treed lot with commanding views of Burrard Inlet and the surrounding mountains.
The residence has been designed to take advantage of a unique property and its intimate relationship to the forest, waterfront location. A central "log house pole" is a featured part of the structural supporting system—integrating the indoors with the outdoors. The home's sweeping glulam beams and douglas fir logs pay homage to its cliff, rainforest setting. The curved roof follows the rising sun.
