OVERVIEW
The Cayoose Creek Community Services Administration Building has been designed as a site-responsive, energy-efficient, green building utilizing a similar architectural aesthetic as an existing community services facility located nearby. This includes a double sloped roof, gable entries, protected walkway canopies, and 2x6 wood framing in conjunction with timber and log construction detailing. The proposed spruce logs adorning the front gables, trellises, and perimeter walkways are to be locally sourced from the Cayoose Creek Indian Band’s own woodlot. It is envisioned that local artists and craftsman would contribute to the overall detailing of the building and site landscaping.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Some of the basic guiding principles followed in the development of the Schematic Conceptual Design for the new expansion facility include:
• Sustainability—to have a low impact on the environment
• Community—to be in context with the existing building, local community and mountain setting
• Health— to be healthy for local Cayoose Creek citizens, staff, and visitors
• Energy Efficiency—to be energy efficient
• Resource Efficiency—to use quality, longlasting building materials
• Cost Efficiency—to be affordable to construct and maintain
• Small Footprint—to be a compact, efficient development
