The Jewel (Aloha) rental apartment residences have been designed as an energy-efficient green building utilizing a simple massing and durable materials. The building program consists of 66 rental units complete with resident amenities such as common and private storage, bike racks, and an electric/hybrid car charge station.

Green design elements include:

  • Energy efficient design—super insulated walls, triple glazed windows
  • Compact, space efficient floor plans
  • Materials and massing in context with commercial/residential  neighbourhood
  • Use of standard wood framing and trusses
  • Centralized HRV and Heating
  • Large overhangs for protection from the hot summer sun
  • Accessible ground level units
